It was a great day for golf at Piqua” Echo Hills golf course Monday September 14th. After an informative Warm up range session sharing and taking swing tips, two of our lady Vikings were setting out on their final State Sectional round. It was the last go-around for Seniors Gabby Henderson and Mia Miller. Gabby, a four year golfer, was focused, in good spirits. As the coach I am so proud of the way Gabby represented herself and our school yesterday. Gabby’s golf game had been struggling as of late but she was able to self correct for her last sectional tournament. After a slower start than she wanted to her round, Gabby parred 3 of 5 the last holes on her first 9, posting bogey on another. Gabby also had two pars on the back 9 on her way to shooting her personal best on 18 holes. Senior, Mia Miller a second year golfer did her thing making friends and vibing with her match opponents from Oakwood and Fairmont. Staying positive throughout the round encouraging her opponents after bad shots and praising them when they hit good ones. Mia’s mindset and attitude propelled her through her round. I talked to Mia in the middle of her round and she said “I’ve hit really good shots today and had some bad shots but I feel good about the round overall”. Mia ended up 17 strokes below her season average for the round and 20 strokes better than her last 18 round. A huge accomplishment!

Miamisburg Volleyball Weekly Recap Miamisburg- 0 Centerville- 3 Emilia Albrecht led in assist with 5 while Jordyn Mumpower led the team in blocks with 2 and serve receive with a 1.96. Aleeyah Hamilton contributed 14 serves with 3 aces and Josie Palmisano led in digs with 10. Jordyn Mumpower led in kills and hitting efficiency with 4 kills and an efficiency of 0.500. Miamisburg- 0 Springboro- 3 Jaelyn Wade led in assists with 7 while Aleeyah Hamilton led in serving and aces with 10 attempts and 2 aces. Ansley Coppock and Lisbeth Dietsch led serve receive passing a 2.67 and 2.29 respectively. Braelynn Bush and Aleeyah Hamilton led in hitting efficiency with a 1.0 and 0.57 respectively. Aleeyah Hamilton led in kills with 4 and Braelynn Bush in blocking with 2. Mary McVey led in digs with 7. Miamisburg- 1 Fairborn- 3 Lisbeth Dietsch led in serve receive passing a 2.2 while Emilia Albrecht led in serves with 19 attempts and 5 aces. Mia Botteicher and Jordyn Mumpower led in hitting efficiency with a 0.5 and 0.412 respectively. Jordyn Mumpower and Lisbeth Dietsch put up 9 kills each while Ansley Coppock added 7 more. Ansley Coppock led in blocks with 7, Lisbeth Dietsch in defense with 18 digs, and Jaelyn Wade in setting with 17 assists.

Miamisburg Cross Country Travels to Tiffin The boys and girls cross country teams traveled to the Tiffin Carnival September 12. The girls were led by Kim Donbar with a personal best 20:08. The boys finished in 9th place out of 35 teams and were led by Gabe Stocker with a best time of 16:50. The other boys leaders were Troy Mastronardi, Brody Lamb, Steven Ray, Kaden Shock, Justin Reeder, and Eric Anderson. Overall the team had 14 personal bests at Tiffin!

Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week! Athletes of the Week (Week of 9/1 Sponsored by the Premier Group Tytus Bettendorf - Football Tytus is our male athlete of the week for 9/1. He is a senior captain and a tremendous leader on the football team. In game one against CJ, Tytus scored three rushing touchdowns and accounted for close to 100 yards of total offense. He completed two passes along with recording a 14 yard reception. Most importantly, he sets a great example for our team as a leader in the community, classroom, locker room, and on the field. Georgia Godsey - Cheer Georgia is our female athlete of the week for her outstanding leadership and commitment to her team. As one of two seniors on the Varsity Football and Competition Squads, she carries a lot of leadership responsibility and embraces the opportunity to set the tone of a practice or game. She is always one of the hardest working athletes on and off the mat, willing to put in extra effort and lead by example. Her positive attitude, leadership, and genuine care for her teammates has made a lasting impact on the team as a whole. She is looked up to by so many and truly exemplifies what it means to be a VIking.

She scored our game winning goal against Hamilton last Saturday. She is a tremendous leader. Sidney gives us a lot of consistent minutes every game and manages to do this all while being a dual sport athlete, she is also competing on the Cross Country team this season. Gavin Sudimack- Boys Soccer Gavin is a four year varsity starter and second year as Captain for the program. A relentless defender who has a fantastic work ethic. Gavin scored the equalizing goal in the season opener and was instrumental in securing the opening point of the season. A suggestion would be coming across the bridge in west Middletown and then coming down Elk Creek Road, turning right on Howe, left on Wayne Madison, and then right on 73 to the middle school. Athletes of the Week (Week of 8/17) Sponsored by the Premier Group Monroe Shoemaker- Boys Golf He has stepped up his game as a sophomore on the varsity team playing in our #1 spot. This is usually a tough position to be in because you are always playing with the best players in the area but this has not phased Monroe. Everyone he plays with enjoys playing in his group. He will become a real special player over the next few years. Mia Miller- Girls Golf Mia’s sportsmanship, leadership, work ethic and positive attitude make a coach’s job easy. This is Mia’s second season on the golf team and she has been working very hard on all facets of her game which is inspiring the younger players on the team to work hard as well. Mia always encourages her teammates and opponents after any shot, good or bad. During the Miamisburg Invitational last week a golfer from Carroll made a 20’ putt and Mia exclaimed “yes, nice putt” and high fived the girl. The Carroll player was a little stunned by Mia’s reaction but enthusiastically high fived her back, like they had been golf buddies for years. Congratulations Monroe and Mia! Go Vikings!
