The Miamisburg Athletic Training Room is well equipped to facilitate post injury rehabilitation and treatment for our athletes.  All Miamisburg School District athletes are welcome to seek medical advice and treatment from the athletic training staff. The Miamisburg AT room phone number is 937-866-0771 extension 1019.

The Athletic Training Room is open daily after school from 2:00-7:00pm.

Comprehensive Concussion Management Program

Kettering Health Sports Medicine provides the most extensive concussion post-injury management team in the area. Kettering Health Sports Medicine uses Sway Medical to offer both baseline and post-injury testing. We treat each case individually with the goal of returning athletes to activity and academics safely. There is no way to completely guard against head injuries, but access to our team of specialists and services can be the best defense in minimizing the effects associated with concussions.

What is a concussion?

  • Traumatic brain injury caused by a hit or force to the head and/or neck

  • Symptoms last from minutes to weeks

  • No two concussions are the same

  • Can present with one or many of the following symptoms: 

PHYSICAL (SOMATIC)

COGNITVE

EMOTIONAL (MOOD)

SLEEP

  • Dizziness

  • Headache

  • Blurred vision

  • Light or sound Sensitivity

  • Fatigue

  • Loss of consciousness

  • Balance Problems

  • Difficulty focusing

  • Fogginess

  • Confusion

  • Amnesia

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Language/speech
    comprehension issues

  • Difficulty remembering

  • Disorientation

  • More emotional than usual

  • Sleeping too much or too little

 All concussions need proper evaluation, rest, monitoring, and treatment

What is Sway?

  • A computerized test that measures cognitive function in a variety of ways such as balance, memory, concentration, and reaction time

  • Pre-season baseline testing and post-injury testing available

  • Available to recreational or competitive athletes, ages 10 and older

  • Takes approximately 35 minutes to complete
