The Miamisburg Vikings went on the road Friday night to face Dublin Coffman and turned the matchup into a defensive slugfest, ultimately falling 10-6. Both teams battled through a scoreless first half, with neither side able to find a rhythm offensively. The Viking defense stood tall, forcing punts and limiting big plays, while Coffman’s defense matched the intensity snap for snap.

The Shamrocks broke through first in the third quarter, punching in a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead. Miamisburg quickly answered behind quarterback Finn Freshwater, who powered across the goal line on a sneak to cut the deficit. The extra point attempt was blocked, keeping Coffman in front 7-6.

Early in the fourth, Coffman extended its lead with a field goal, making it 10-6. Miamisburg had its chances down the stretch, including a long touchdown pass that would have swung the momentum late, but it was called back on a holding penalty. Despite several drives into Coffman territory, the Vikings couldn’t put together the consistency needed to finish.

In the end, it was a hard-fought defensive battle where Miamisburg showed grit and toughness on the road, but Coffman made just enough plays to escape with the win.
