Miamisburg Varsity Softball put together its strongest defensive performance of the season on Monday at Miamisburg High School, showing clear growth, improved communication, and young players stepping confidently into their roles.

Wayne opened the scoring in the first, but the Vikings kept the game tight behind a composed, complete-game outing from Pigman, who struck out six and walked just one. She continues to bring experience and accountability to this young roster, setting the tone with her presence, poise, and consistency in the circle.

Defensively, the Vikings were outstanding. This was the cleanest, most connected defensive effort of the year. Siney was locked in all night in left field, making strong reads, staying aggressive, and helping anchor the outfield. Her performance reflected the team’s growing confidence and attention to detail.

Miamisburg’s breakthrough came in the bottom of the sixth. The Vikings created pressure, capitalized on a defensive miscue, and got a clutch RBI single from Wade, who drove in two runs and continued to show exceptional leadership on both offense and defense. Her presence at third base and in the heart of the lineup continues to elevate the team.

Wade, Pigman, and Johnson each recorded hits as the Vikings continued to show improved discipline and competitive at-bats from the core of the lineup.

Wayne regained the lead in the seventh, but Miamisburg battled to the final out — demonstrating resilience, composure, and a clear step forward in how this group competes.

This young team is learning how to stay locked in, how to respond in tight moments, and how to build a defensive identity. With leadership from players like Wade, experience from Pigman, and breakout performances from players like Siney, the foundation is getting stronger every game.
