Vikings Varsity Boys Lacrosse hosted a strong Fairmont Firebirds team in a GWOC matchup at home. The Vikings started strong with good intensity by scoring the games first goal after a sound offensive possession however momentum quickly shifted back into Firebirds favor. Fairmont had a well-rounded team with a depth chart that allowed for substitutions that kept their field fresh and this whittled away at the Vikings. Defensively, goalkeeper Alex fields kept Miamisburg in the game with an astounding 19 saves. Offensively, the Vikings struggled to produce due to poor ball movement however senior captain Tanner Vongsy stepped up with a strong effort adding both Miamisburg goals to the tally. Although the game ended with a final score of 13-2 in favor of Fairmont, Miamisburg defense did not give up as both Carter Vozel and Marshall Wilkin caused multiple turnovers and fought hard for ground balls each possession. The next matchup for the boys lacrosse team is on Saturday 4/18 at home in the form of a charity game to support adults with disabilities.
