The Miamisburg Vikings traveled to Edgewood on Friday night, August 28, and battled throughout the evening before ultimately coming up short, 32-28, in a back-and-forth contest that featured multiple lead changes.

The Vikings showed flashes of strong play on both sides of the ball, but were unable to consistently put everything together and play the complementary football necessary to finish the game with a victory. Miamisburg won the turnover battle, and Kingston Majeed provided a big play with a kickoff return for a touchdown, but Edgewood continued to answer each time the Vikings appeared ready to take control.

Miamisburg had one final opportunity to steal the victory. With the clock winding down, Finn Freshwater attempted to connect with Brydon Martin on a pass into the end zone, but the ball fell incomplete as time expired.

While the result was certainly disappointing, credit goes to Edgewood for making one or two more plays than the Vikings when it mattered most.

There is no time to sulk, however, as Miamisburg faces another major challenge this Friday when the Vikings travel to Hilliard Davidson. Both teams enter the matchup with 1-1 records, and last year's meeting was a close and competitive contest.

The Vikings will look to put Friday's disappointment behind them, bounce back, and get back into the win column. In a matchup between two teams eager to respond, the outcome may come down to which team is more determined to make the plays necessary to finish on top.
