This last week was incredibly hot and on the border of canceling most of the matches. The Varsity team batted through the extreme heat and played 4 matches last week. Apparently, the boys were not bothered much by the high temperatures because they turned in 2 of the best team scores in the last 2 years.
We started of on Monday against Beavercreek at Beavercreek Golf Club. This course has been a nemesis for the boys but played well and only lost by 4 to a good beavercreek team. The 2 best scores were Monroe and Tylan both shooting a 44.
Our second match was at Sugar Isle against Wayne. Wayne beat us in a quad match earlier this year but the boys were determined to not let that happen this time. Miamisburg won by shooting 174 and Wayne shot 196. Monroe lead the team with a 40 and right behind him was Branson with a 43.
Even after 2 rounds in the major heat we still had Carlisle at home on wednesday as well as Franklin. Both at pipestone. Carlisle came in as a tournament winner earlier this year so the boys had there work cut out for them. They came in wanting this win but unfortunately came up 4 shots short. Our team shot there best team score in 2 years and topped the best score this year so far by 12 shots. We had them beat after the first 4 players were in but Carlisle's 5th man came in with a great score to win the match.
Finally, on thursday after 3 days of exhausting golf we had to play only with 4 players instead of six meaning we had to count all 4 scores without throwing a score out. The team came together and put up a score of 154 to beat the score from the day before and beat Franklin who shot 216. Ty Back- 36, Monroe and Kayden- 38 and Carter Stolle- 42. The team is playing really well after a slow start to the season just in time for the end of season play!
