The Miamisburg Vikings traveled to Columbus on Friday, September 4, and came away with a hard-fought 21-14 victory over the Hilliard Davidson Wildcats.

Facing a very good and disciplined Hilliard Davidson program, the Vikings battled through adversity from start to finish and found a way to earn a much-needed road victory.

The game began slowly, with both teams trading punts and battling for field position. Neither offense was able to find much rhythm early, as both defenses stood their ground and made the most of every opportunity.

The Vikings finally broke through in the second quarter when Tytus Bettendorf found the end zone on a touchdown run to give Miamisburg the lead. The Viking defense then came up with one of the biggest plays of the first half, making a crucial fourth-down stop deep in Miamisburg territory to keep the Wildcats off the scoreboard.

With the clock winding down in the first half, the Viking offense put together another strong drive. Bettendorf once again finished the drive with a touchdown run, giving Miamisburg a 14-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Hilliard Davidson came out of halftime determined to make adjustments, but the Vikings continued to find ways to make plays. Midway through the third quarter, Bettendorf came up with a huge play on defense, recovering a fumble and taking it into the end zone for another Viking touchdown. The score pushed Miamisburg's lead to 21-0.

The Wildcats, however, refused to fold.

Hilliard Davidson continued to battle and eventually cut the deficit to 14 points early in the fourth quarter. The Vikings answered with another key defensive stand, coming up with a fourth-down stop to prevent the Wildcats from extending their momentum.

Hilliard Davidson's defense then returned the favor, stopping the Vikings on fourth down and giving the Wildcats another opportunity. The Wildcats took advantage, putting together a scoring drive that resulted in a touchdown with approximately four minutes remaining in the game, making it a 21-14 contest.

With the game hanging in the balance, the Viking offense responded exactly when it needed to. Miamisburg put together a series of crucial plays and earned a couple of first downs, allowing the Vikings to control the clock and put the game away.

When the final whistle sounded, the Vikings had earned a hard-fought 21-14 victory on the road.

The win was a testament to the team's toughness, discipline, and ability to respond when faced with adversity. Against a quality Hilliard Davidson program that continued to fight until the very end, the Vikings made the plays they needed to secure the victory.
