Miamisburg faced a hot-hitting Beavercreek lineup on Friday, falling 13–0, but the Vikings continued to show resilience, defensive improvement, and promising individual performances that point to real growth as the season progresses.
After Beavercreek’s unusually explosive first inning, Miamisburg settled in and competed with far more stability the rest of the way. Pigman delivered three strong innings of relief, striking out five and walking none, providing a steadying presence in the circle. Siney, who drew the start, showed real resilience despite a tough opening frame heavily impacted by defensive miscues — with seven of the eight runs unearned. She continues to be a true team-first player, stepping up wherever needed and consistently showing up for the Vikings.
Defensively, the Vikings tightened up significantly after the first inning. Freshman Lynch covered a tremendous amount of ground in center field, showing effort, confidence, and improved reads on the ball. In the middle infield, McPherson and Douglas brought energy, communication, and competitiveness, helping settle the defense and keeping the team connected through the later innings.
At the plate, Miamisburg continued to show discipline and signs of offensive potential. Hemberger once again demonstrated strong discipline at the plate, staying committed to her approach and forcing the pitcher to work. As a team, the Vikings drew three walks and showed that there is real offensive promise — the next step is gaining the confidence to attack hittable pitches and trust their swings.
With this one behind them, the Vikings return home Monday to host Wayne, carrying forward the positives: improved defensive communication, strong relief pitching, and the emergence of young players gaining confidence in key positions.
